The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has awarded Dynamic a prime contract for ICE & scheduling services related to the retrofit of the Coronado Bridge, connecting the City of San Diego to Coronado Island. The main objective of the project is to install a suicide deterrent system along both sides of the bridge, construct bridge maintenance access bays / platforms, and improve the traffic management system on the bridge. This is the first progressive design-build (PD-B) contract ever released by Caltrans, and Dynamic will be representing Caltrans at the negotiation table while reconciling quantities, costs, schedule durations, and risk contingencies with the design-builder.

Jesse Espinoza, Dynamic Founder / Principal Consultant, states that, “We are proud to have been selected for another critical California infrastructure project. For Caltrans to select us for their first ever PD-B is an honor and a testament to the trust that we have developed as a partner to Caltrans and other major public agencies across the western United States. After the Golden Gate Bridge (another Dynamic project), the Coronado Bridge is recognized as the second most frequently used bridge for suicide in the U.S., averaging nearly 20 suicides annually in recent years. We are proud to be a part of a project that will save lives, while improving maintenance access, and traffic flows. Coronado Island is home to Naval Air Station North Island, so military access to the island is of great importance to the protection of our country. When dealing with critical infrastructure in America, Dynamic is the firm that agencies rely upon for dependable ICE and scheduling services.”

Work is scheduled to start in the Fall of 2024 and will continue in phases over the next five years.
